Incense is clearly a monumental part of The Dipper’s world. Since our humble beginnings, The Dipper’s main goal has been to create quality products with eclectic ingredients that we find from all corners of the globe. Crafting our products is always a joy, but there is some serious technique in the process – incense making is an age old art that we have practiced and applied to each batch, never forgetting that above all else the quality of our manufacturing is key. Incense and the meditation practices around it are centuries old, and we strive to honor the traditions around it.

It all starts with a small, well crafted, simple stick of bamboo, or, “punk stick”. Punk sticks are made with all natural bamboo materials, which are coated at the top (burning end) with a saw dust paste made of Machilus wood. Machilus wood is a choice material, as it retains and absorbs fragrance well. From there, scent opportunities are endless, and oil fragrances are infused into the punk sticks.

And now we come to “The Dipper” meaning: the process of adding fragrance to punk sticks comes from dipping the “blank” sticks into the desired essential and carrier oils to formulate those beautiful scents that fill our homes. Once dipping is complete, the sticks are carefully wrapped in wax paper and cured to retain freshness and scent, ready for packaging and distribution to you, our friends and well conscioused customers.
